Most of the events in Next Day: Survival occur on a large open-world map, with different parts creating a different experience. You have swamps, beaches, forests, and complete concrete buildings that all contain NPCs, environmental hazards, and other elements that can help or deter you from pushing forward, depending on your gameplay style and approach. Also, it offers more actions—driving vehicles, swimming, and even parachuting to your location.

Like factions in the Fallout series, each of these groups has its own features, capabilities, and restrictions. It has an extensive crafting system and a wide range of interaction options with the environment.
